A Kindling Creativity – A Children’s Art Workshop

Paint. Share. Care 2 is an art workshop, exhibit, and auction all rolled into one. Last year, the first Paint.Share.Care activity was able to raise funds for the construction of homes in the Gawad Kalinga village in Talibon, Bohol. This year, it is a partnership between the Saturday Group of Artists, Gawad Kalinga (GK), and its sister institution GKonomics. It aims to instill an appreciation for the arts, as well as a sense of charity and social responsibility - as part of the proceeds will go to GKonomics' enterprise development program and Gawad Kalinga's Kusina ng Kalinga program.

Last September 30, 2017, 19 master artists from the Saturday Group led by Buds Convocar and Omi Reyes mentored and worked two-on-one with over 30 junior high school students from La Salle Greenhills, the International School of Manila, and Gawad Kalinga communities from Quezon City, to create collaborative artworks. The “Kindling Creativity - A Children's Art Workshop” was held at Mabuhay Restop in Rizal Park.

The Saturday Group is composed of accomplished and prolific artists who have generously agreed to share their talents and expertise with young, budding artists from both privileged and marginalized backgrounds.

Such an unprecedented collaboration was surely memorable for the young budding artists. It was interesting to see their interactions with one another as well as the outputs of their collaboration.

An art exhibition will be held between October 16-18,2017 in La Salle Green Hills. Open to public viewing, the main art exhibition will be from October 21-28,2017 at the Saturday Group Gallery, 4th Level, Eastwing, Shangri-La Plaza.

The Mentor Artists who generously provided their time and expertise are Ysa Gernale, Salvador Ching, Ronnie Bercero, Anthony Palo, Buds Convocar, Danny Pangan, Frank Cana Valencia, Maryrose Gisbert, Jaime Gubaton, Daisy Carlos, Anna De Leon, Inna Vitasa, Robert Daniega, Aner Sebastian, Joseph Villamar, Eman Santos, Roel Obemio, Nida Cranborne, and Omi Reyes.

You are welcome to view the e-catalogue, purchase a Charity Card, and bid on your chosen collaborative artwork.

This is just one effort of caring and sharing. You too can support and be one of Gawad Kalinga’s partners in improving the quality of lives of the poor. Hunger ends when caring begins!
